This workshop is designed as an introduction to electric kilns for people firing their own work for the first time, for teachers firing student work or even for experienced potters trying to solve common firing related clay and glaze problems.

Topics covered include:
Basic kiln construction and parts identification
Pyrometric cones and firing temperatures
Kiln loading
Programming a computerized kiln
Setting a kiln sitter and firing a manual kiln with switches
Basic kiln maintenance and simple repairs
Kiln safety
Fixing firing faults by changing your firing schedules

 
About The Workshop
Designed for people with any level (or no) experience operating an electric kiln. The class is taught by one of our on-staff, factory trained kiln technicians. Your space in class is not reserved until paid in full. Tuition will be refunded, less a $20 cancelation fee, if you withdraw 7 days before the class. Classes with less than 3 people enrolled will be cancelled.
