IMPORTANT NOTE! In this time of high shipping volumes and tight deadlines we want to remind customers that USPS does NOT guarantee delivery times. If you are placing a time critical order we always recommend UPS or DHL (worldwide) rather than USPS.

Get ready for your pottery class!

Please arrive approximately 5 minutes before your class starts. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty even though clay normally washes out easily. Long hair should be tied back, long fingernails may need to be trimmed, jewelry and watches you don't want to get dirty should be removed and left at home. We will provide your tools and clay but if you have an old towel at home please bring it to place on your lap while working. We have extra towels in the studio if you need one. We hope you have a great time!

Studio Hours
Please come in and practice outside of your class time! Your access to the studio starts on the first day of the class session and ends on the last day of the class session. You do not need to wait until your first class meeting to begin using the studio. The class session starts at the first Saturday during the six week session and ends the last Friday during the six week session.
The studio is open to students currently enrolled in a 6 week class during the following hours:
Sunday - Thursday 9a - 9p
Friday - 9a - 6p
Saturdays - 10a - 6p (NEW SATURDAY STUDIO CLOSING TIME!)

Clay and Firing
1. 25 lbs. of stoneware clay as well as glazing and firing of the first 25lbs of clay.
2. Additional clay can be purchased at our retail store for use in class or from a teacher after retail hours. Prices vary depending on the type of clay purchased but most clays are $14.50-17/25lbs.
3. A $10 fee will be charged for each additional bag of clay to cover glazing and firing costs. The $10 fee must be paid at the time the clay is purchased.
What comes with adult class enrollment
1. 6 weekly class sessions. One weekly three hour session with your instructor.
2. Studio use outside class time. The studio is open Sunday - Thursday 9a - 9p, Fridays 9a - 6p and Saturdays 9a - 3p.
3. Use of studio tools, bats and studio equipment. Not sure how to use a piece of equipment? Just ask any staff member for help. You are welcome to bring your own tools if you choose.
4. Up to two shelves to store your works in progress, tools and clay.
5. Use of our KPS Cone 6 glaze pallet (premium glazes excluded from student use). Commercial glazes can be purchased if desired and used in the studio as long as they are formulated to fire at cone 5-6.

Claim your shelf and clay
1. During your first class session your teacher will assign you a shelf and get you a bag of clay. If you did not attend the first class session any member of staff or any teacher can help you get a shelf and clay.
2. Your shelf or shelves (maximum 2) must be labeled at all times with your first and last name as well as class day and time. This makes it easier for us to keep shelves neat and organized during sessions.
3. Write your name on your bag of clay. It is also helpful to label your clay with the correct clay name or code.

General studio practices
1. Have fun and ask for help if you need it! Any member of staff or any teacher will be happy to help you have a great clay experience. All of our staff members have extensive clay experience so chances are we can answer your questions.
2. Clean up! If it was clean when you started it should be clean when you are finished. Easy, right?
3. After you are finished with your piece and it is ready to be fired it should be placed on one of the the ware carts labeled “Greenware”.
4. After your greenware is fired and becomes bisqueware you can find it on the shelves labeled “Bisqueware”.
5. After you have glazed your pieces place them on the shelves labeled “Cone 6 Glaze Firing”.
6. Once they are glaze fired find them on the shelves labeled “Finished Work”
