    Product Description

If you have ever wanted to try your hand at Raku now is your chance. A spectacular ancient firing technique! Unlike most ceramic firing processes Raku is a very fast process. Red hot pieces are removed from the kiln and smothered with sawdust and newspaper to create flashes of color in the glazes. After pieces cool they are dunked in water to speed cooling and set the colors.

    Included with the workshop:
    - Students get 25 lbs of Raku clay to create 3-4 forms for firing (NO BOWLS PLEASE. We recommend vases less than 8 inches wide).
    - Bisque firing at Krueger Pottery (you can bisque your own pieces if you choose)
    - Glazes to use during the workshop

Works MUST be bisqued for the glaze session (bisque firing included – all pieces must be on the bisque shelf ready for bisque firing by Sunday June 5 if you want KPS to fire them).

On Saturday, bring auto pin striping tape (available at Auto Zone in different widths) and bisque works to Krueger Pottery Supply. On Sunday, bring a bag lunch and glazed pots to Judy Guerrero's house in Webster Groves (directions will be given Saturday).  Instructors: Judy Guerrero & Kate Nawrocki.

Please do not wear flammable clothes or open toe shoes.
