Bounty Satin Underglazes
Bounty Satin Underglazes are formulated to fuse at
cone 06 and to melt to a beautiful satin matt in the cone 4 to 6 range.
Our underglazes may be applied to greenware and once fired to cone
6. They may be applied to greenware and bisque fired to cone 06. They
may then be glazed and refired to your finish temperature. Bounty Satin
Underglazes may be applied to bisque ware, but should be rebisqued before
being glazed. If glaze is applied over raw underglaze, the underglaze
may lift up or peel during firing.
Bounty Satin Underglazes are shipped as dry mix in plastic jars. You
add water in the amount indicated on the label and screen twice at 80
mesh. Two liberal coats of underglaze are required for complete coverage.
Thinner coats will be slightly transparent.
Because of the wide variety of processes and materials in use in
the ceramics field, Krueger Pottery, Inc. cannot guarantee
results.

Terra-Sigillata
Terra Sigillata is a blend of superfine clays which are applied as
a thin slip over the surface of stiff-leather hard to bone dry greenware
and then polished to a high gloss. Ware coated in this manner is ideal
for pit firing, or for other low temperature processes.
We have acheived good results over many different clay bodies up to
Cone 04. Pit fired ware can be coated with a floor wax compound, as
well, to bring out the gloss. Terra-Sigillata can be used over Terra-Cotta
clays to execute sgraffito techniques by scratching through the light
slip to reveal the red clay underneath.
Our Terra Sigillata is ideal for schools. It can be purchased as dry
mix or as a ready to use liquid.

Iron Oxide Wash
This is an exciting and versatile surface treatment for almost any
clay body. This wash has dozens of uses but the most common is as
a woodgrain effect over midfire clays. Using a large soft brush, the
wash is applied to bisqueware. After it has been given a few minutes
to dry, the wash is sponged off of the surface. The sponge used, the
pressure and the water content can all be varied to give effects as
diverse as a realistic woodgrain or a light surface stain.
